The primary objective of the course is to introduce students to computer-supported collaboration, the technologies supporting cooperative work in virtual settings and the tools facilitating execution of community-oriented collaborative tasks. This is achieved by studying theoretical models of collaboration, methodological frames of reference and their practical application in designated areas of human behavior such as engineering design tasks, distributed organizing, education and learning, etc.

Outline and plan of the course, learning strategy, expected outcomes
Theories of cognition (i.e., analysis of traditional cognitive theories and extended discussions of activity theory, distributed cognition, semtiocs, etc) and theories of artifacts (i.e. agency theories, affordances, imbrication of representations, soci-materiality, etc)
Collaboration leading to virtual teams, online communities, virtual communities of practice and intrer-organizational practices
Emphasis on digital trace data, cillaborative tagging and qualitative techniques
Outline of current research trends, overview of project work and assessment
