Organic Chemistry and Structural Biochemistry (Erasmus Course)

(NDS270) -  Aspasia Spyridaki

Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

This course covers the chemistry of carbon compounds, from simple carbon molecules to complex organic compounds found in living organisms, providing a foundation for understanding their properties and roles. It examines the fundamental concepts of organic chemistry, including nomenclature, structural representations, stereochemistry, and chemical properties, and explores important biomolecules such as nucleic acids, lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins, with an emphasis on enzymes. The course also helps students understand how these biomolecules influence the processes of living organisms and how their structure relates to their biological functions. Additionally, laboratory exercises reinforce theoretical learning through hands-on practice, while also teaching students to organize, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
